Let me start off by saying I'm not the easiest client to cater to. I am overprotective of my hair and I likely put a lot of pressure on the stylist to cut it perfectly. The way I see it: the more detailed and descriptive I am, the easier it is for the stylist to ensure I'm loving my locks - and leaving a nice tip! So... I come to the salon with a diva-fied list of demands; "don't cut more than a half of an inch, don't cut my bangs, I want layers-but they have to be blended, the shortest layer can't be shorter than here...and the list goes on.
Since moving here I have visited two salons (they shall remain nameless). One was quite pricey (wash, cut, colour, style $250) and the other was moderately priced (wash, cut, style $40). I had consultations with the stylist and or colourist at both locations. Can someone please explain why both times I left the salon furious that my hair is too short, too layered, and too opposite of what I asked for? After both appointments I left vowing to cut my own hair for the rest of life...
A month has passed and I know I'll be in need of another haircut sooner than later. The look of scraggly dead ends gets old pretty quick, and I'm a Diva! Who ever heard of a diva without fabulous hair?
Hair brings one's self-image into focus; it is vanity's proving ground.
Hair is terribly personal, a tangle of mysterious prejudices.
